The Mumbai-based fashion content creator is known for her clean lines, penchant for mixing jewellery and a love of corsets

For as long as I’ve known her, Amrita Thakur has always had a chic ease to her style. While her foray into content creation has been relatively recent, Thakur has long been a part of the fashion industry first as a part of Ensemble’s buying and merchandising team and then with the launch of her own design studio.

On social media, the 42-year-old’s feed is peppered with parenting advice, her fitness and wellness routines, and of course her keen eye for fashion and jewellery curation, showcasing a mix of established and new labels, that she styles with flair.

Whether it’s the red 431-88 sari and corset that she wore to a recent wedding, a lime green sari, or the pristine white corset and saris from Tarun Tahiliani and Siddharth Tytler, it’s clear that Thakur loves a good drape.

And when she’s going the traditional lehenga route, it’s all about diaphanous fabrics, pastel hues, and a statement maang tikka, to finish out the look.

Wed count: “4-5 this past year in New Delhi, Mumbai and Kovalam.”

Favourite designer: “Invariably I end up wearing my own designs. Most of them are thought and designed at the very last minute, but I love the process and enjoy making it all come together.”

Wedding guest style: “I haven’t had to dress for any elaborate dress codes, but there have been colour specific codes. I honestly feel at this moment, we are spoilt for choice. There’s so much beautiful work out there, all catering to various occasions and aesthetics. I like to keep changing up my looks!”

Destination wedding hacks: “Beautifully tailored blouses, fresh hair, sharp eyes, antique jewellery, wedge sandals, a beaded handbag and confidence.”

Fail-safe styling trick: “Keep it light and impactful. No matter how simple your outfit is, you can always up the glamour with the jewels.”

Won’t leave home without: “Lipstick or lipgloss, and glue drops.”

Where’s the next wedding: “Goa!”
