Ballet pink is officially the it-girl colour this wedding season

Say goodbye to Barbie and hello to ballet: this season’s go-to hue is subtle, chic, and totally bride-approved

Colour trends have been everything and everywhere over the past two years—we’ve had everything from mocha mousse to butter yellow to brat green, some even getting ridiculously specific (blueberry milk nails, anyone?). We saw the full-blown Barbification of pink just last spring. But now, pink’s ditched its brighter, more blinding cousin and taken on a softer, frothier detour that we’re high key obsessed with. Ballet pink has quietly been building to this moment over the past few months but in the past week it’s screaming “colour of the season”.

Late last year, Ariana Grande brought back Giambattista Valli Spring 2017 Haute Couture in a dreamy ruched pink dress, and stylist Emili Sindlev look gave us a Carrie Bradshaw moment at Tory Burch. Cut to 2025 and ballet pink is having a serious high-fashion moment. Miu Miu and Brandon Maxwell gave us the daintiest ballet pinks in their Spring/Summer ’25 collections. Sydney Sweeney floated into the Bezos wedding in a ballet pink gown and diamond choker, while Khloé Kardashian served the same frothy pink glam. Closer home, Alia Bhatt had a soft sari moment for the Umrao Jaan screening, channeling Rekha in Silsila. All in all, this particular shade of pink leans into balletcore but is giving us a girly girl power packed punch. With no signs of fading, it’s a safe, and seriously pretty bet to add more of this soft fluffy pink into your wedding shopping cart.

Pink lehenga club

First is lehengas. We’re not getting over two things this season, or any season (ballet pink aside): mirror work and florals. With a colour as subtle as this, you still need to bring in that big fat Indian wedding feel, and mirror work or crystal-studded lehengas will do just that. A big extra pink feather moment because Elle Woods taught us well. Or go for a fun thigh-high slit.

Frothy co-ords

We personally think ballet pink shines the frothiest when it’s done in the most muted way. Think sleek kurta sets with delicate marodi or zari work, relaxed fits always look chicer than anything too tight, when it comes to co-ords. But if you’re going for a more playful vibe, a sharara’s the way to go. Flared pants, a funky coloured dupatta, or even just a plain kurta set stacked with chunky neckpieces.

Shimmery gowns

For the reception, gowns are a perfect fit. A sculpted Gaurav Gupta number in a rose-tinted shade? Always a yes. Or try a corset top with a layered skirt for something a little more playful. Ballet pink pairs beautifully with sparkle, so don’t be afraid to add a shimmered detail here or there, it softens without dulling. If gowns aren’t your thing, you’ll find plenty of long dresses with Indian prints and textures that still fit the vibe. Let ballet pink take centre stage, or pair it with deeper or warmer pinks for a contrast that still feels cohesive.

All pink everything

There is truly no such thing as too much (ballet) pink, especially if you match the shades right, or the contrast works out in your favour. We’re over Barbie pink accessories. But we’re in our balletcore and glitter era. So go for a sparkly clutch. We love the ballet flats, but wedding fits call for some heels. Mesh pumps are everywhere right now, so pick a pink studded one, or go for some simple high mules. Just keep it all in the ballet pink family.
