Can you strike a balance between fashion-for-fashion’s sake and comfort-for-dancing-the-night-away's sake? Yes, insists Tarini Manchanda. Her wedding guest wardrobe is testament to her commitment to looking fabulous but without any of the aches and moans of too-tight corsets or jewels that have you in a stranglehold.

The 33-year-old content creator and brand strategist likes her couture light and unfussy so she can be in the moment and enjoy the many weddings she attends. But this Delhi girl won’t dream of compromising on fashion, glamour and style—instead, she’s found her ultimate cheat in pre-draped saris and her drama in light-weight bright lehengas. Here's her tricks and tips:

Wed count: “This year alone, I’ve been for weddings in Seville, London, Dubai, Jaipur, Mumbai—and I’ve lost count of how many I’ve attended in Delhi.”

Wedding guest vibe: “My wedding guest style is definitely as effortless as one can be. I like to move around, be comfortable, and dance at a wedding!”

Destination wedding trick: “My number one tip for a destination wedding is finding light outfits that can be easily slipped on. I also love a pre-draped sari. I don’t usually like very heavy outfits, so I try and make up by wearing brighter colours. And I love experimenting with costume jewellery at a destination wedding. I just think the atmosphere is less stuffy than city weddings so you can have more fun with the way you dress. And I always have a steam iron handy!”

Go-to designer: “For a destination wedding I love 431-88. I love the ease of Shweta’s clothes. I also love Ridhi Mehra and Arpita Mehta. And I'm definitely partial to the pre-draped sari!”

In my clutch: “My phone—I’m usually the first one to pull it out and capture cute moments of guests or the couple or myself, haha! I also usually carry sunglasses, so I can skip my eye make-up if need be.”

Red/green flag: “I do hate that sometimes it stresses me out now because I’m also thinking about my content, especially if I’ve ‘sourced’ a look. At the moment, I’m just trying to get creative with the pieces I have in my own wardrobe and re-wear things differently (that part I love!).”

Pro-tip: “I love when I see people being relaxed and feeling good. I don’t think there are any rules to dressing for a wedding, but I do think that constant fidgeting and adjusting is a no-no.”

Next wedding: “I’m going for a college friend’s wedding in Greece that I’m very excited about. She’s part Greek, Lebanese and Japanese, her fiancé is English—so I’m looking forward to seeing the mix in cultures. I’m currently deciding between a cobalt Aroka maxi dress with a little dupatta or a pre-draped Tarun Tahiliani lamé sari dress.”
