Whether you’re a young couple setting up a first home or a guest searching for the perfect wedding gift, at The Wedding Collective we believe in buying art to create memories and mark life’s key milestones. Whether it’s for your own walls or someone else’s, art is timeless, unique and, in many cases, a meaningful investment.

Building an art collection takes curiosity, research, and an understanding of both your personal tastes and the market. For Season 2, we wanted to make that journey easier. So we’ve partnered with respected art consultant and curator Farah Siddiqui Khan to create a special Art Edit—pieces that will ensure your walls are far from ordinary.

In 2017, Farah launched Cultivate Art, a platform dedicated to championing emerging and mid-career artists. We asked her what to expect at the show this year.

What are you most excited about at The Wedding Collective?

We’re particularly excited about weaving art more deeply into the broader conversation around weddings and lifestyle. The Wedding Collective is curated with such a refined eye, and we value the opportunity for art to be seen not merely as décor, but as a form of personal expression and gifting. We look forward to meeting couples and individuals building new homes and new lives—it’s a beautiful moment to introduce them to the emotional and cultural value of art.

What led you to collaborate with TWC?

TWC has always stood out as a platform that champions elegance, individuality, and storytelling—values that align closely with our philosophy at Cultivate Art. This collaboration felt natural, as both of us are committed to elevating experiences. We wanted to spark a dialogue where art could be viewed not just as an aesthetic choice but as a narrative, a keepsake, and a future heirloom.

Art as a gifting option is on the rise. Do you agree? What should people look for when buying art?

Absolutely—it’s a trend we wholeheartedly embrace. Art makes an incredibly thoughtful gift; it’s personal, enduring, and often carries a story. We encourage buyers to connect with a piece emotionally, learn about the artist’s journey and medium, and not be swayed solely by trends. Supporting emerging artists is also a wonderful way to contribute to the cultural landscape while acquiring something meaningful.

Can you tell us a little about the artists and works you will have on display? How did you select them?

For TWC, we’ve chosen contemporary Indian artists whose works speak to intimacy, heritage, and transition—perfectly aligned with the spirit of new beginnings. Alongside these, we’re showcasing the much-loved traditional Pichwai art, celebrating India’s rich traditions. The presentation ranges from abstract and nature-inspired forms to traditional figurative works. Each artist was selected for their distinct voice and their ability to convey emotion on canvas. Our aim is to present pieces that resonate across generations—timeless yet contemporary.

What advice would you give to those looking to: a) Buy their first piece of art, and b) Gift art to a couple?

For first-time buyers: trust your instincts. You don’t need to be an expert—choose something that resonates with you and reflects your style or story.

For gifting: consider the couple’s tastes, but also the sentiment behind the piece. A smaller artwork with a personal note on why you chose it can have far more impact than something grand. Many of our artists can inscribe a personal message, adding another layer of meaning.

What are the pieces every young couple or individual should begin their collection with?

I suggest starting with versatile works—pieces on paper, limited-edition prints, or small canvases. As your space and confidence grow, you can move towards larger statement works. Don’t overlook ceramics, textiles, or mixed media—they bring texture and dimension to a collection. We also recommend marking special milestones or anniversaries with an art acquisition; set aside a budget each year to build a collection that reflects your life’s journey.

For a couple starting a new chapter—or for someone gifting to them—art is a way of saying: Here’s something that will stay with you, grow with you, and be uniquely yours. We’re thrilled to bring Cultivate Art to TWC and open up this world to a new generation of collectors.
