We’re at the peak of winter wedding season and if you’re still reaching for the monotone looks in your closet, let me gently remind you: we’re done with that. Colours don’t have to take a backseat in wedding style. Whether you’re the best friend dancing in the baarat, a bridesmaid strutting down the aisle, or just a guest dancing the night away, it’s time to ditch the one-note outfits and embrace a full spectrum of wedding hues.

We spent some serious time scouring the latest bridal collections and realised that there’s been a shift. After years of wedding style that’s defined by pastel lehengas and cream and gold saris, it seems like designers are reaching for something a bit more joyful now. Think orange and blue or pink and red—palettes that embrace maximalism and celebrate dopamine dressing.

Below, some of our favourite colour combinations and where you can find them.

Rust orange and Jodhpur blue

Orange has always been deeply rooted in the Indian tradition–it’s the colour of marigolds, of juicy mangos, of monks’ robes. But to give the colour a distinctly 2025/26 spin, we suggest you pair it with Jodhpur blue. The two colours sit on opposite ends of the colour wheel and the contrast is both playful and imaginative. To see how it works, check out Ritu Kumar’s blue jasmine lehenga with a contrasting orange dupatta, or SVA’s ombre embellished lehenga that’s perfect for both daytime events and evening receptions.

Mint green and blush pink

Pastels, with their calming, romantic appeal, are a wedding season favourite. So why not pair two sweet pastel tones together? Mint green and blush pink—like matcha and strawberry, it’s a match made in heaven. Case in point: the ombre draped skirt by 431-88, paired with a feathered pink jacket or Shantanu Goenka's sage green sari with embroidered pink flowers.

Classic red and pink

Red has a firm role in Indian weddings–its the colour of kumkum, of alta, of the red bangles a bride wears on her big day–all classic symbols of marriage and prosperity. Meanwhile, pink has been quietly carving out its space as a softer, more feminine alternative. But tried pairing them together? It’s pure magic. Take Ekaya’s rose-red silk Banarasi sari with accented pink borders, or Anushka Khanna’s playful pink-red contrast bandhani gharara set. These looks show just how well the two colours work together to create a beautiful balance.

Yellow and hot pink

Yellow may spell classic haldi, but hot pink has emerged as its bold, modern counterpart. The two together create a synergy that’s equal parts festive and trendy. Designers are already proving the magic of this pair: Manish Malhotra’s sunlight-yellow kurta set gets an instant lift with a striking pink dupatta, or Oh Fab’s Sahiba Nargis kaftan set where the sharara is edged with soft pink for a breezy, tropical finish. And for celebrations beyond haldi, Raji Ramnique’s hot pink blouse paired with a yellow embroidered lehenga will take you effortlessly from a mehendi into a sangeet.
