Nicolas Ghesquière has once again reminded everyone that he understands the red carpet better than most. Last night at the BAFTAs, his knack for controlled drama was on full display. Emma Stone’s halter-neck dress was all about the power shoulder (seriously, though, who is her trainer?). Erin Doherty looked great with her plunging neckline and sculptural skirt. Timothée-Kylie attended, yes, but the relationship headline belonged to Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams, who hard-launched on the red carpet. He wore Prada, she wore Chanel—a dress embroidered with shimmering carps from Matthieu Blazy’s pre-fall 2026 collection (lowkey very Chinese of him). Tilda Swinton’s Chanel suit, though, was the coolest.
Meanwhile, eternal It-girl Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy has completely taken over Instagram feeds again thanks to the new Ryan Murphy show. The tortoiseshell acetate headband. The ruffled Yohji pieces. The Narciso wedding dress. The snakeskin Prada loafers. I’ve seen them so many times that they are now permanently etched into my brain. (Side note: see Tanya Mehta’s story on artisanal shoemakers for your own signature shoes below.) It feels like the right moment to revisit an essay on what it means to be an It Girl by the author of CBK: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy: A Life in Fashion, Sunita Kumar Nair.
In other news, today is the final day of London Fashion Week. Erdem marked his 20th anniversary with a beautiful collection that felt both historical and youthful (seriously, you must see it), and Simone Rocha unveiled her upcoming collaboration with Adidas Originals yesterday—very, very cute ballet flats incoming. And in more genuinely exciting news, Raw Mango is showing on the official calendar for the first time today. London-based contributor Akanksha Kamath got a preview of the collection for The Nod.
