Happy Monday and welcome back to Salon! While this is technically a fashion and beauty newsletter, all everyone can think, speak, and dream about right now is Justin Bieber’s Coachella set, and I, for one, am unwell.
On Saturday, the pop star performed at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival for the first time in his career of almost two decades. Of course, he sang new music from Swag, but what sent millions of Beliebers into a spiral was his YouTube karaoke session mid-set. Obvious hits like ‘Baby’ and ‘Beauty and a Beat’ were part of it, but he also sang ‘Favorite Girl’ from My World (I died) and the very early, important, and life-altering cover of ‘With You’ from his tweenage (deceased beyond resurrection).
A bunch of celebrities, including wifey Hailey, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton, Kendall Jenner and Jacob Elordi, Katy Perry and former Canada PM Justin Trudeau were present for this insane concert. I envy every person who got to be there and gets to be there next weekend, when he’ll surely outdo this set. There’s just too many bangers in his discography!
