Is baby blue the new colour of luxury? When it comes to beauty, it certainly feels like it. The soft, cloudy shade first popped up on our Instagram feeds when Zendaya stepped out in a custom Louis Vuitton white lace dress during The Odyssey promotions. What stood out, though, was the wash of powder-blue Prada Beauty Dimensions eyeshadow (linking the palette here) that makeup artist Ernesto Casillas topped off her look with. Right before that, Miu Miu launched their Fleur de Lait fragrance, a white bottle with a milky blue stopper, Kosas released their Cloud set loose powder in a similarly pastel-toned compact, and even earlier Chanel announced a denim-inspired makeup line. While blue in beauty isn’t exactly new, this particular soft, subtle shade is slightly surprising, a little off-kilter even, especially when it appears as eyeshadow or a blue-capped bottle in your beauty kit. On the other hand, it also serves as a neutral, pairing perfectly with shades of brown and nude. It’s expressive but low-key, the perfect way to add some colour to your palette without too much drama.
