When it comes to hair that feels red carpet-ready yet effortlessly undone, Yianni Tsapatori is in a league of his own. The globally renowned stylist has carved out a distinct niche—one where laid-back luxury meets technical brilliance. No wonder, then, his clientele reads like a who's who of Bollywood and beyond, including Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan. Whether it’s a soft wave with staying power, a sculpted bun that doesn’t feel too ‘done’, or a bridal look that feels like the perfect extension of you—Tsapatori brings a unique ability to make hair look effortlessly glamorous, lived-in and luminous. With him, every bride looks like a star—but more importantly, feels like the best version of herself.

What are the biggest bridal hair trends you’re seeing this season?

A natural, effortless approach. Hair that's soft, shiny, and polished—but not overly styled. Think: clean low buns, textured waves, or half-up half-down styles that feel timeless. The focus is on healthy-looking hair that complements the bride’s natural beauty.

Hair down vs. hair up—what’s your take?

It really depends on the dress and the bride's comfort. If the outfit has a detailed neckline or heavy embroidery, I often recommend an updo to let that shine. But for softer or more modern silhouettes, hair down or half-up styles can look incredibly romantic. The key is to create balance.

Hair prep & timeline

How far in advance should brides start prepping their hair for the big day?

Start 6–8 weeks in advance. You want to establish a healthy haircare routine early—regular trims, masks, and maybe a gloss treatment. This gives your hair time to settle and ensures it's in the best condition come wedding week.

Any must-do treatments or rituals?

Hydration is key. I recommend weekly moisture masks and using a scalp serum or exfoliator to keep the scalp healthy. A glossing treatment a few weeks before the wedding helps enhance shine and vibrancy.

Any services to avoid too close to the big day?

No drastic colour changes or new treatments in the final two weeks. And avoid heat styling too often—it can dry out the hair. Keep it simple and focus on maintaining hair health.

Personalisation & consults

How important is a trial session—and how many should a bride ideally have?

One detailed trial session is essential. It helps us finalise the look and make sure it works with the outfit, makeup, and accessories. I like to spend time understanding what the bride is comfortable with and create a style that reflects her personality.

How do you incorporate the outfit, makeup, and venue into the final hair look?

Everything is connected. The hairstyle should enhance the entire look, not compete with it. For example, with a dramatic outfit, I keep the hair sleek and simple. For a more minimal look, I might add soft waves or accessories for impact.

Do brides request different looks for different functions? How do you keep them fresh?

Yes, and I love that! It gives us the chance to explore different textures and moods. I make sure each look has its own vibe—whether it's tousled and boho for the mehendi or sleek and sculpted for the reception. Variety keeps it interesting.

Hair extensions & add-ons

Are hair extensions or padding essential?

Not always, but they can be helpful. Extensions add volume and can make styles last longer—especially important for long events. But I prefer to use them sparingly and blend them seamlessly with the bride’s own hair.

Tips for choosing and maintaining extensions?

Always opt for high-quality human hair extensions. Make sure they’re colour-matched properly. After use, wash them gently, let them air dry, and store them flat or in a silk pouch to prevent tangling.

Hair health & natural care

Any holistic tips for healthy hair amidst wedding stress?

Get enough sleep, stay hydrated, and eat a balanced diet—that’s the real magic. Hair reflects what’s going on inside your body. I also suggest taking breaks from heat styling and incorporating scalp massages to relax and improve circulation.

Top three tips to make bridal hair last all day?

  1. Prep with a good texture spray or mousse—it helps the style hold.
  2. Use pins and elastics that grip well but don’t damage the hair.
  3. Finish with a light, flexible hold spray—nothing too stiff.

Emergency kit must-haves?

  • Bobby pins
  • Mini hairspray
  • A small comb for touch-ups.
  • If the bride’s wearing a dupatta or veil, extra safety pins and discreet clips can help secure everything in place.

One thing every bride should know about their hair before the big day?

Don’t try to look like someone else. The best bridal hair enhances who you are—it should feel like you, just elevated. Trust your stylist, and don’t stress. Confidence and comfort always win.
