How many outfit changes do you manage in a day? In the new season of HBO’s period spectacle The Gilded Age, Bertha Russell, played by Carrie Coon, declares that she changes at least three or four times a day: “I get up into a dress to shop or write letters, then I change for lunch and or paying calls and then I change again sometime after six for dinner and perhaps one last time for the ball or the opera.” Just imagine her luggage for a long weekend in Newport! Thankfully now, over 120 years later, we’ve taken that number down. But because there are still plenty of questions about how to dress when you travel, a few weeks ago we asked some well-dressed jet setters how they approach carry-on luggage. From Tide pens to water-resistant backpacks, the answers are pretty diverse and will give you plenty of packing inspiration for your next big getaway.
