The cruise shows are underway, and last week closed with Gucci in New York, Dior in Los Angeles, and Chanel across the pond, in Biarritz. While each brand immersed guests in its own universe, there was one tiny token that seemed to link them all: a soft, poofy explosion of a corsage pinned near the collar. At Gucciâs Clavicular-coded show, there was a double-breasted suit finished with a bundle of feathery flower petals pinned to the lapel. At Chanel too, one of the brandâs iconic twinset skirt suits was accented with a mini firework of fabric in black. Dior leaned heavily into the trend with a veritable garden of handcrafted fabric flowersâgiant California poppies, drooping lily of the valley, ombrĂ©-dyed carnations. It was a reminder that ever since Carrie Bradshaw wore one in Sex and The City, a corsage has become as an easy way to bring a bit of excess, a bit of drama, to even the sleekest, most understated look. Make this your styling tip for the week ahead.
