“We said we will take away the mental load of mothering, and I think we have,” says Croatian-origin entrepreneur Tena Pick about her latest enterprise. It’s quite a loaded statement for a project that is barely two months old, but Pick knows she’s on to something. Earlier this year, Pick and her strategic board advisor, Tanushree Seth, a New-Delhi-via-New-York transplant, launched a 6,000 sqft space in the heart of Bengaluru whose core clientele is a unique cohort: working parents.
With Coro, a co-working space and members-only family club in Indiranagar spread over two floors, the idea was to offer a nurturing ecosystem where parent entrepreneurs can thrive. The pair connected over a WhatsApp group that provided new moms a community during the COVID-19 pandemic, and by the time offices had reopened and work-from-home arrangements were coming to an end, they knew what their city really lacked.
“We have created a space where there is no guilt. You want to build the next unicorn? Great, we got you. You want to drink your coffee hot and read a book? We got you,” continues Pick, who moved to India seven years ago and has a decade’s experience in gender and development. She found a willing conspirator in Seth, who worked in strategy at Estée Lauder and its brands, and together they have created this new workspace for modern parents.
