A mid-week holiday is a good time to…plunge into the literal hell of academia. While we welcome the incoming ukadiche modaks and a day off from the daily commute that today brings, what’s really exciting is that RF Kuang’s Katabasis is, finally, here. The plot: A graduate student who ends up (accidentally) killing her professor now has to travel to the underworld to save him because she needs a recommendation from him. While most know Rebecca F Kuang from the blockbuster Yellowface, which is set in the world of publishing, the realm of fantasy is where she most excels (case in point: Babel and The Poppy War trilogy), and I, for one, cannot wait to crack open my black-and-gold copy.

There’s also some good news for fans of the two talkative Lorelais, though this one will take some time to come to fruition. To commemorate the special milestone of 25 years since Gilmore Girls first premiered, a new documentary on the show, Searching for Stars Hollow, is in the works. The details are still a little hazy, but when it’s out, we’ll be on the couch, Pop Tarts within reach.

How are you spending today? Might we suggest some light reading that spans India’s new band resurgence, the hybrid spaces making Friday nights interesting, and some strange phenomenon involving our daily hydration?
