The last quarter of the year is always a good time to get out, go somewhere, and see something you’ll be talking about long after your holiday. So, while you plot your year-end itinerary, make room for a few films, exhibitions, and performances.

First up, the Tibetan Children’s Village in Dharamshala will play host to the Dharamshala Film Festival (October 29 to November 1), with a line-up of Indian and international films, including Gurvinder Singh’s Rehmat and Shaunak Sen’s Termite, both of which have made waves at the Locarno and Toronto film festivals, respectively. Then there’s Mumbai’s biggest, funnest art weekend: Art Mumbai, from November 12 to 15. At a preview last evening, Dinesh Vazirani, Nakul Dev Chawla, and Minal Vazirani gave us a glimpse of what’s in store. Expect more than 90 Indian and international galleries to descend on the city, alongside curated walks, talks, and plenty of opportunities to convince yourself that you absolutely have room for one more artwork at home.

In West Bengal, the Biennale (November 25 to January 2) will bring more than 100 artists to 20 of the state’s most iconic venues. And to round off the year, the Serendipity Arts Festival returns for its 11th edition in Goa, from December 13 to 20, with eight days of exhibitions, performances, workshops, and curator-led experiences. This year, the visual arts programme is led by Latika Gupta and Sheba Chhachhi; craft by Kshitij Jalori and Sudheer Rajbhar; and music by Aruna Sairam and Ankur Tewari. Mark your calendars.
