When you put William Dalrymple in a room with journalist and writer Raghu Karnad, and a bunch of Delhi creatives in attendance, the conversation is bound to be riveting. Last evening, The Nod Book Club made its debut in the capital city with an intimate gathering of book lovers, all there to discuss writing, history, and the role of an historian today.

An eclectic crowd of attendees including author Manu Joseph, chef Radhika Khandelwal and designers such as Shweta Kapur, Ruchika Sachdeva, Ashdeen Lilaowala and Peter d’Ascoli, showed up at The Grammar Room in Mehrauli, a beautiful space housed inside the iconic Olive Bar and Kitchen. Over the course of an hour, the crowd sipped on craft cocktails by Scottish gin brand Hendrick’s, while listening to the story of a 20-something Scottish boy who became obsessed with India. Karnad looked back at Dalrymple’s illustrious career, revisiting his years as a travel writer, historian, author and now the co-founder of arguably India’s largest literary festival and a podcaster. For more on our bookish events and reading recommendations, follow The Nod’s Book Club channel here.
