Krésha Bajaj’s tailored suits have secrets up their sleeves

Plus, jewellery inspired by Greek gods, a small-batch homegrown rum, and more of The Nod’s current obsessions

Krésha Bajaj

A bridalwear designer returns to menswear

Krésha Bajaj might be more famous for her ‘Love Story’ lehenga and opulent eveningwear, but she actually has a deep, personal history with menswear. Her father, the late Kishor Bajaj, had a well-established tailoring house named Badasaab, which was known for its perfectly cut trousers and well-fitted suits. These are lessons that the Mumbai-based designer is bringing forward with her new menswear line, Krésha Bajaj Homme. The first collection is full of delightful details. Think a bandi jacket with ribbed collar and sleeves, hidden cashmere sleeve linings on a sherwani for extra comfort, or a jacket with beadwork embroidery so fine that it resembles animal skin. —Butool Jamal

Jewellery fit for the gods

Louis Vuitton’s new high jewellery collection, ‘Mythica’, draws from the heroines and goddesses of ancient Greece, a fitting reference point for a collection designed around the idea of the modern woman as powerful, accomplished, and worthy of adornment on an almost mythic scale. The collection spans 11 themes and 110 pieces and while it has its fair share of diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires, what makes ‘Mythica’ stand out is its use of what the house calls “new precious” stones. There’s a 127.66-carat cat’s-eye topaz at the centre of the Enigma necklace, suspended within ribbon-like settings alongside floating topazes and step-cut Santa Maria aquamarines. The Fortitude necklace features an 82.14-carat Cambodian zircon. In the ‘Spell’ chapter, cat’s-eye moonstones and topazes sit beside fluorescent diamonds that glow in the dark, which feels useful for anyone leaving a gala at 2 am.

This is exactly the jewellery you buy to commemorate a big promotion, surviving a terrible year, or reminding future generations that you were fabulous long before they inherited your necklaces. —Chloe Chou

Emotional support skincare, now as a mini

soothing milky tonic.jpg

Does your skin feel parched in office air-conditioning, taut and stressed-out mid-flight, or in need of a full reset after the gym? D’you has just launched a mini version of its barrier-friendly milky toner so you can spritz on the go. The lightweight mist absorbs quickly, feels instantly refreshing, and leaves the skin looking like a glazed donut. Hinoki water reduces redness, hydrates, and soothes the skin, while the two percent Honokiol complex fights acne-causing bacteria. The 30 ml bottle is small enough to fit inside your pocket or makeup pouch and useful enough for you to want to repurchase before you hit the last spray. A genuine summer essential. —Chloe Chou

A trio of new stores

From jewellery to saris, get your dose of retail therapy this weekend. At the newly launched Tanzire store in Mumbai you can add to your ear stack with a new piercing and then browse jewellery from over 25 women-led brands or Tanzire’s own lightweight everyday jewels before you head out. Meanwhile, the capital is home to two new stores we’re excited about—Anavila’s first Delhi store and Siddartha Tytler’s new flagship at The Corridors, a new designer shopping hub. At the former you can score the designer’s signature handloom saris and separates in a peaceful, mogra-scented environment, while the latter houses Tytler’s dramatic eveningwear in a zen-like space.—Anusha Mary Jones

What’s your Zodiac sign?

Imagine a jewellery box that’s almost as precious as your fine jewels. For her 10th anniversary celebrations, Natasha Khurana, founder of jewellery label The Line, has launched a set of exquisitely carved rose quartz boxes, each one topped with a different Zodiac sign. The boxes are one part of a trio of birthday treats that are available to shop and which continue the designer’s ongoing obsession with the Zodiac. There is a series of specially commissioned paintings by Goa-based artist Richa Kashelkar, each one depicting a female figure as her astrological sign, and a new collection of Zodiac pendants in 18-carat gold embedded with birthstones. —Butool Jamal
