Between Lakmé Fashion Week in Delhi, shops being looted in Paris, a KGL x The Palace Atelier collab unveiling in Jaipur, the Academy Museum Gala, and the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in LA, what a weekend it’s been!
Did you manage to catch the VS show last night? Even if you didn’t (really, who’s watching it anymore?), you may have come across former VS Angel Romee Strijd’s TikToks on being cut from the show. What else? The Fantasy Bra returned to the VSFS runway after an eight-year hiatus, not on a bonafide Angel but on Kylie Jenner. Created in collaboration with Jacob & Co, it featured over 4,000 natural diamonds and a massive 75.54-carat yellow diamond centrepiece and reportedly costs $50 million.
Naturally, fans of the OG VS Angels weren’t happy about the casting. Wearing the Fantasy Bra was considered an honour back in the day when the show was a thing. As one Redditor put it, “The Fantasy Bra going to Kylie Jenner perfectly sums up what’s wrong with the new Victoria’s Secret show.” VS needs eyeballs and I guess it made sense for them to give it to Jenner from that POV (she got Timothée in the front row too, which made Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse fans talk about how Kymothée could never live up to them). But alienating fans of the OG Angels to garner more views at a time Gen Z isn’t even interested in wearing bras perhaps isn’t the smartest move for an underwear brand.
In other news, best dressed of the week goes to Taylor Swift, who wore Dior by Jonathan Anderson to the Academy Museum Gala. Worst dressed was PC in Matières Fécales—sorry (sari?), but not every runway pull by Law Roach is a serve. Below, stories to catch up from The Nod.
