This year has been wild for sequels and legacy franchises. My feed is currently being held hostage by Jonathan Bailey and his slutty little glasses in Jurassic World: Rebirth (which dropped last weekend to reviews that read like a group project gone wrong). Then there’s James Gunn’s Superman, releasing this weekend. Early reviews are in, and they’re...not super. Despite the internet drooling over David Corenswet in the cape, I stand firm: he’s not my Superman. That title stays locked with Henry Cavill (arms crossed, cape flowing, zero debate).

But this isn’t just about two blockbusters. 2025 is overflowing with franchise fare. Final Destination returned earlier this year (again), and I Know What You Did Last Summer drops another sequel next week. Are we tired yet? Is this fun? I don’t even know anymore. But honestly? I’m eating it all up—the good, the bad, the nostalgic cash grabs. While you debate whether to hit the theatres this weekend, here are some stories on The Nod to curl up with tonight.
