Have you somehow escaped the madness surrounding the gay hockey romance TV series called Heated Rivalry? Pedro Pascal loves it! The chair scene just happened without planning! Episode 5 has got a Perfect 10 rating! Women are going wild for Heated Rivalry! My algorithm is obsessed too, and by now I’ve seen every swoon-worthy scene and multiple reactions to each—especially the much shared Scott Hunter coming-out scene but also dear sweet Kip going “Or. I choose ‘or’.”

The show, made for Canadian streaming service Crave and available on HBO Max, is based on book two of Rachel Reid’s popular ‘Game Changers’ hockey romance novels. Heated Rivalry follows two closeted NHL players, Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) and Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) as they navigate a slow-burn romance over many years and some hot-and-heavy chemistry. There are watch parties being held around the world every Friday, the screams at pivotal scenes rivalling those extracted by World Cup goals. (Of course, the show’s been renewed for another season.)

But, but, guess who can’t watch the series. We, dear readers, the viewers in India. Is anyone reading this?
