Is it just me or is the world of entertainment moving at the speed of a refresh button? There’s a new OTT release every other day, people are returning to the theatres, immersive fan experiences are turning films into full-blown events, and lotteries are organised for a seat at these coveted screenings. Add to that the endless stream of books being adapted to movies and limited series. I can barely keep up.
Not that I am complaining. If anything, the industry seems determined to ensure we are never short of things to watch, discuss, dissect, and obsess over. From YouTube creator turned director Curry Barker giving us the year’s creepiest film, Obsession, to District’s upcoming Friends-inspired experience that has millennials spiralling, there’s always something.
But while everyone else is following the plot, The Nod team is often obsessing over the clothes. Because there’s always the storyline and then a parallel storyline told entirely through costumes and makeup. Take this piece by our managing editor Shalini Shah about how Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver) brings a refreshing take on mid-life dressing with her colour-blocking and autumnal palette in The Four Seasons. We have obsessed over Imperfect Women necklaces, Ryan Gosling’s glasses in Project Hail Mary, Euphoria’s naked dresses, and more! And honestly, we love it.
