Frankenstein drops this week, marking the start of Jacob Elordi’s gothic era. The internet’s favourite heartthrob has gone from red-flag royalty in Euphoria to aristocratic chaos in Saltburn, and now he is the tragic creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, streaming on Netflix. And Emerald Fennell’s take on Wuthering Heights arrives later this year. So yes, it is officially Elordi season... Consider this your cue to revisit his filmography all weekend.
Plus, on Monday, the winner of the Booker Prize for 2025 will be announced. On the shortlist there’s Kiran Desai’s 800-page magnum opus The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny, Andrew Miller and David Szalay, the authors of The Land in Winter and Flesh, Katie Kitamura (Audition), Ben Markovits (The Rest of Our Lives) and Susan Choi (Flashlight). Obviously, there are no bad books here, but we love to speculate so here’s our predictions of each book’s chances of winning this year’s honour.
In other required reading for this weekend is The Nod’s November cover story featuring Kajol and Twinkle Khanna. Transitioning from actor and writer to the chatty, chops-busting, newly minted talk-show hosts of Two Much on Prime Video, the duo discuss their pretty famous guests, mahjong, and life at 50.
