APRIL 22, 2026

If you grew up inhaling dystopian fiction like it was oxygen (hi, same), April 2026 has been a feast. Truly, a full-circle moment for anyone who once pledged allegiance to factions, districts, or whatever twisted world we happily got pulled into.

First up: the trailer drop for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. A prequel set during the Second Quarter Quell, it zooms in on a young Haymitch and, yes, the casting slate is stacked. But what’s really interesting? Suzanne Collins is, once again, eerily on the pulse. The movie, which will release in November, will hint at themes brushing up against AI, control, and manufactured narratives. Miss Collins does not miss.

And if that wasn’t enough, The Testaments has also landed on JioHotstar, expanding the world of The Handmaid’s Tale. Set four years later, it follows a younger generation growing up inside Gilead, many of whom do not fully understand the world that came before them. It works whether you have followed the original closely or are just stepping in now. Plus, Margaret Atwood has a secret cameo. Icon behaviour.

Then comes the book news that feels almost too good to be true. Veronica Roth is returning to the world of Divergent with a new duology set in an alternate timeline. Tris makes a different choice this time, which already sounds like it could change everything. If you were even slightly dissatisfied with how the original trilogy ended, this might finally give you the redemption you were hoping for.

The biggest takeaway from the viral book, ‘Strangers’, isn’t that a marriage can implode without warning. It’s that women really need to have that uncomfortable chat about money
