Even if dystopia is not your genre and the world of fungi and zombies has not yet fired up your group chat, Pedro Pascal is here to save the day and bring it to your watch list. Among this week’s highly anticipated releases is the second season of The Last of Us on JioHotstar, awaited by not just Playstation players but viewers who can’t wait to unpack their theories on cordyceps and zombies.

There are other genres too. This week, playing out on other streaming platforms is a Western, a Guy Ritchie docu series about a jaw-dropping heist, a dark-web tale and an Indian horror.

‘The Last of Us’ S2 on JioHotstar

Pedro Pascal, once the internet’s soft-spoken apocalypse daddy, is now dealing with the consequences of being too good at protecting Ellie. The show returns with more emotional gut punches as Ellie takes centre stage and things get tenser, bloodier, and morally greyer. It’s a coming-of-age tale wrapped in fungus and fury.

‘Ransom Canyon’ on Netflix

What happens when you mix Yellowstone drama with Nicholas Sparks-level romance and throw in a scenic Texas backdrop for good measure? Ransom Canyon follows three ranching dynasties fighting to protect their land and legacy; cue secrets, power struggles, and lots of cowboy hats. The real drama isn’t just the land disputes but Staten and Quinn—old flames with unfinished business, whose reunion gets complicated when a mysterious cowboy arrives.

‘Logout’ on Zee5

Logout is pretty much a “we already knew that” kind of film. It follows Pratyush, a rising social media influencer, whose life unravels when his phone is stolen and his online persona hijacked by an obsessed fan. As his digital and real lives start to blur, Pratyush’s world spirals out of control. The plot is pretty predictable, but the performances by Babil Khan and Rasika Dugal keeps it engaging. If you need a refresher on why you should probably step away from your phone, this psychological thriller has you covered.

‘The Diamond Heist’ on Netflix

Guy Ritchie brings his signature flair to a real-life robbery that’s stranger than fiction. The three-part mini series takes you inside the 2000 robbery at London’s Millennium Dome, where a gang attempted to steal a priceless diamond with a truck and a whole lot of nerve. It’s 45-minutes of chaos, colourful characters, and brash decisions, that sort of capture why this crime was one for the history books.

‘Khauf’ on Prime Video

Khauf is the perfect popcorn binge for when you’re craving chills without getting too deep. Madhu thinks she’s escaping her past by moving to a new city, but her hostel room has other plans. It’s haunted, creepy, and straight-up chaotic. Think psychological horror with a side of supernatural twists—great for a weekend binge, but don’t expect any life-changing lessons, just plenty of thrills and jumps.

‘The Stolen Girl’ on JioHotstar

The Stolen Girl will make you reconsider ever letting your children leave the house again. Elisa’s simple decision to let her daughter sleep over at a new friend’s house turns into a full-blown nightmare when she discovers the “home” was a vacation rental and her daughter is gone. This is a thriller that’ll make you want to ground your kids forever and maybe cancel all future playdates.
