Still from 'A Real Pain'

Cricket fever is in full swing, and with the whole country glued to the IPL, it’s easy to forget that other entertainment exists. But if you need a break between overs or just something to watch while pretending to care about your office fantasy league, here are some fresh picks.

This week’s watchlist has something for everyone—whether you’re craving a crime thriller dripping in nostalgia, an emotional gut-punch disguised as an indie film, or a sports drama that takes its stakes way too seriously. There’s also a medical thriller that makes hospital bureaucracy look tame and a stop-motion fever dream featuring tiny sweaters and even tinier moral boundaries.

MobLand

If you miss the ’90s, you’re in luck, because MobLand misses them even more. This London-set crime drama directed by Guy Ritchie stars ’90s Bond Pierce Brosnan himself, as well as Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy, and it’s steeped in nostalgia. Think silly cockney accents and a gangster family that feels straight out of a VHS rental. The twist? It’s set in modern-day London, though you’d never guess it. The performances are great, but the show itself feels like it’s cosplaying a bygone era. Entertaining but stuck in the past.

A Real Pain

Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin embark on the most uncomfortable family trip since your last disastrous holiday reunion. Playing bickering cousins tracing their family’s history in Poland, they bring equal parts emotional depth and “are we seriously doing this?” energy. Eisenberg is at peak neurotic level, Culkin delivers maximum eyerolls, and together they make generational trauma weirdly entertaining. It’s indie, it’s existential, but thanks to these two, it’s never boring.

Bug Diner

Ever wondered what happens when primal urges, diner drama, and tiny hand-knitted sweaters collide? This award-winning stop-motion short from Phoebe Jane Hart is a wild fever dream set in a restaurant run by an ant with, apparently, a very distracting backside. With surreal visuals, workplace crushes, and insect romance, Bug Diner is weird, wonderful, and impossible to unsee.

Park Eun-bin of Extraordinary Attorney Woo swaps courtroom drama for scalpels and secrets in this intense medical thriller. She plays Jung Se-ok, a brilliant neurosurgeon who gets booted from the system and ends up getting involved in shady underground operations. Think Grey’s Anatomy but if Meredith Grey had a revenge arc and zero patience for hospital bureaucracy.

Test

Cricket is serious business—especially when a scientist, a teacher, and a cricketer all have life-altering stakes riding on a single match. Starring R Madhavan, Nayanthara, and Siddharth, this Tamil sports drama turns a game into a pressure cooker of ambition, love, and impossible choices. Will they score big or crumble under the weight of expectation?
