By now, you know that sunscreen is non-negotiable no matter your skin type, tone, or location. It helps protect your skin from harmful UV rays, prevents sunburn, and lowers the risk of skin cancer. For vain people like me, it also has the benefit of preventing sunspots, wrinkles, and changes in skin texture. You’ve seen those viral truck driver photos from The New England Journal of Medicine, I’m sure.

As most people with a good work-life balance are soon going on summer break and spending more time in the great outdoors, we’re here with our annual reminder to replenish your SPF stash. Remember: two finger lengths’ worth on the face and neck, and if your skin is prone to breaking out, double cleanse at the end of the day. It’s not as tedious as it sounds, we promise.

Whether your summer plans involve sunbathing on a beach, scaling a mountain, or melting under the glare of office lighting, below, see the sunscreens in The Nod team’s current rotation.

SPF Juice, Fae Beauty, ₹399

“I love how lightweight this sunscreen is. I have predominantly oily skin, so heavier creams don’t really work for me. When I put this sunscreen on, it feels like I’m wearing nothing at all, and it adds a healthy glow to my face. It’s also a great base under makeup.” —Diya Parakh, social media editor

UV Filters SPF 45 serum, The Ordinary, ₹1,500

“What I love about this serum is the milky, liquid texture. The pump makes it super easy to dispense product directly onto the face and makes even application quick and seamless. There’s no residue and it makes my ultra-dry skin feel and look amply hydrated and glowy.” —Chloe Chou, fashion and beauty writer

NaturalSun Eco No Shine Hydrating Sun Cream, The Face Shop, ₹1,199

“The is the best sunscreen I have used so far for my sensitive skin type. It glides smoothly and sits well atop a moisturiser without weighing it down. It’s highly breathable and fragrance-free, which I admire in a good sunscreen.” —Ria Rawat, visuals editor

Daily SPF 30+, Face Reality, ₹3,400 approx

“I’ve had such awful luck with sunscreen in the past, and as a (reformed) routine hater, I never really managed to successfully incorporate sunscreen into my day-to-day. But a well-timed (unprovoked) astrology reading encouraged me to look at routine as a means to “beautify my life” the same week I was introduced to Face Reality’s sunscreen. It’s non-comedogenic, which I’ve learned is non-negotiable for my skin, and it manages to keep me sun-safe without aggravating my skin, which is prone to rosacea and acne chapters and sensitive to weather changes. It lasts through a workout, wears well under makeup, and is lightweight enough not to overstimulate. I buy three tubes at a time.” —Saniya Jaffer, social media executive

Pigment Control Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50+, Eucerin, ₹1,800

“I’ve become genuinely obsessed with the Eucerin Anti-Pigment SPF 50. It gives high protection without feeling heavy or greasy, sits beautifully under makeup, and helps prevent further pigmentation while visibly improving uneven skin tone over time. The lightweight texture and natural finish make my skin look fresher and more even instantly.” —Sheree Gomes Gupta, senior contributor

Sunblock Invisible Sunscreen SPF 30, Kaya, ₹899

“Most sunscreens I have used in the past have worn off almost immediately after application due to sweat. I often skipped using sunscreen (I am not proud) to avoid the stickiness. The Kaya invisible sunscreen has been a blessing. It’s a light, gel-based sunblock that has a barely-there feel.” —Tanvi Parekh, features editor

Lite SPF 50 sunscreen gel, La Shield, ₹980

“With my sensitive, acne-prone skin, I prefer to stick to what’s available at the local pharmacy. Until now I was using the La Shield SPF 40, but in this current heatwave even the gel-based cream had started feeling too heavy. I’ve just switched over to the Lite version by the same brand. The consistency is more of a liquid than a gel, so it disappears quickly and doesn’t leave my skin feeling weighed down.” —Butool Jamal, fashion editor

Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid sunscreen, La Roche-Posay, ₹1,400

“This is another great liquidy sunscreen that makes my dry skin glow. It’s definitely sweat resistant, so it’s a good heavy-duty option if you’re planning on spending your summer outdoors by the pool or the beach. Since it is a bit heavy despite being liquidy, you’ll need to double cleanse at the end of the day to get all of it off.” —Chloe Chou, fashion and beauty writer

Fotoprotector Fusion Water SPF 50, Isdin, ₹2,850

“This is the sunscreen for those who hate sunscreens. The lightweight liquid is perfect for my oily, acne-prone skin. The tiny nozzle-tip bottle is elegant and ensures you don’t have wrestling matches with the tube over those last few squeezes. Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun and Round Lab Birch Juice moisturising sunscreen are probably tied in second place for me.” —Shalini Shah, managing editor

“It’s taken me almost four decades to find a lightweight sunscreen that is perfect for everyday wear and doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy or ghost-like. Its XS size is easy to slip into your tiny bag and affirms my belief that something solid can come out of something so small.” —Megha Mahindru, editor

Oil Control Dry Touch Sun Gel-Cream SPF50+, Eucerin, ₹1,305

“Another Eucerin sunscreen to make the list, and this once came heavily recommended by the all-knowing lady at the French pharmacy I visited back in December. I told her my criteria like it was a matrimony ad: sensitive, combination, acne-prone skin looking for a light sunscreen, and living in a hot, humid city. Plus, another recommendation for my 50-something mum. From the hundred bottles crowding the aisles, she picked up two Eucerin bottles, one for me and a photo-ageing variant for my mum. While I will be purchasing bottles on repeat of the Oil Control one I use—it’s dry to touch and non-sticky, even in Mumbai’s summer—the Sun Photoaging Control Fluid SPF50+ one is, in my mum’s opinion, too sticky for the humid weather and has since been returned to source aka me.” —Ruhi Gilder, audience growth analyst

Dragon Fruit Bounce sunscreen SPF50+, Dot & Key, ₹445

“When I first got a hold of this sunscreen, I was afraid it would smell too fruity and do very little. I am happy to report that my assumptions were proven wrong. This is a super lightweight, watery sunscreen that leaves no white cast or shine. My skin feels adequately protected, though I do reapply this one more often. It’s a great option for hot, humid weather.” —Chloe Chou, fashion and beauty writer
