The spring/summer 2027 shows have just come to a close, and if there’s one thing we took away from fashion month, it’s that designers weren’t holding back on accessories. The shoes, specifically, were amped up with textural details. There were plenty of flowers, pom-poms, and strange heels, but some of the most playful takes came from Thom Browne, who gave us cartoonish bugs; Chanel, where Matthieu Blazy continued his streak of delightfully eccentric footwear; and surprisingly Burberry, where Daniel Lee teamed up with British textile artist Celia Birtwell for the collection and showed what were perhaps the house’s most fantastical shoes yet. Of course, there were potential It-items in the mix too, from the latest Miu Miu x New Balance collaboration to Bottega Veneta’s answer to the mesh flat.

Bags ran the gamut from wonderfully impractical to refreshingly sensible. There was a raincloud-and-lightning-shaped minaudière at Chanel, while Dior gave us versions shaped like wenwan walnuts and birds. At Gucci, Demna turned a belt into a party bag. Hermès and Louis Vuitton, meanwhile, delivered fuss-free shoulder bags we’d happily carry every day.

Below, we look back at some of the season’s best accessories:

We may have already found the It-shoe of next summer. Designed by Anthony Vaccarello and freelance design director of shoes Corrado De Biase (who was also responsible for the see-through plastic dress shoes on the men’s SS27 runway), these opulent shoes with delicate chains and chunky gemstones—some with sculptural serpent-shaped heels—were all anyone could talk about for days after the show.

Dior cygnet minaudière

You can always rely on Jonathan Anderson for a fun novelty bag. After all, it was he who created JW Anderson’s now-iconic pigeon and hedgehog clutches. While the new Dior collection had plenty of delicious, practical bags—including new takes on classics like the Saddle, Lady Dior, and Toujours hobo—it was this minaudière in the form of a baby swan that caught our attention. What will it fit? Perhaps a lipstick and a box of Tic Tacs. Do we still want it? Yes.

Givenchy Balance thong sandals

The moment I saw these shoes on the runway, I did a double take. This one is a zipper thong that stands on not one but two heels, curved to look as though they’re springing from the ground. The zipper concept appeared across other styles, like mules and a covetable pair of boots, too, but these gravity-defying thong sandals were the clear winner.

Miu Miu x New Balance RC150 sneakers

Miu Miu and New Balance are at it again. And if the current obsession with slim, low-profile sneakers is anything to go by, it’s likely you’re going to see this shoe on all the It-girls come spring. Inspired by an archival New Balance road-racing shoe from the early ’90s, named for its unbelievably light 150-gram weight, the new RC150s feature a technical mesh upper, contrast zigzag stitching, and an additional pair of laces tied through external loops at the toes. On the runway, they were in a bunch of really fun, eye-catching colourways. The capsule will reportedly be available online in select Miu Miu stores as early as February 2027. Mark your calendars.

Chanel novelty slingbacks

When Matthieu Blazy’s first Chanel collection hit stores, it was the shoes that caused a frenzy amongst shoppers and flew off shelves fastest. Funky footwear is fast becoming a Blazy-era Chanel signature. This season, he showed slingbacks and pumps decorated with buttons, patent leather playing-card suits, gold and red beads, and a mishmash of animal prints. Our pick? This zingy pair with a furry animal-print toe cap.

Burberry face-embellished pumps

This season, Daniel Lee collaborated with British textile artist Celia Birtwell to bring her colourful, joy-inducing prints onto his designs. Thankfully, the collab didn’t just stop at the clothes, going all the way down to the accessories too, including an embellished umbrella. On the runway, there were colourful, embroidered mules, pumps, and slingbacks, but this mesh shoe adorned with shiny paillettes featuring tiny faces on it made us all zoom in. Shoes with personality, literally.

Gucci belted party bag

This season, Demna finally unveiled his personal vision for Gucci, shaped by everything he’s learned since taking the helm of the brand. Among the accessories was this slimline shoulder bag that features not one, not two, but three of the house’s signature Horsebits. Borrowing its design from the 3X cummerbund belt also seen on the runway, it’s an easy add-to-cart for anyone who’s a bit edgy with their style.

Thom Browne bug sandals

Creepy-crawlies have never been more desirable. For his spring/summer 2027 collection, Thom Browne went all in on insects and showed sandals and mules with faces of caterpillars, ladybugs, and beetles on the toe caps. They came alive through holographic and metallic finishes, shiny patent leather, and fuzzy textures. At first glance, they may not look like the most practical of shoes, but when worn they’re a great way to add just a pop of fun and whimsy to an otherwise regular, neutral look.

Bottega Veneta mesh flats

When it comes to accessories, Bottega Veneta aces the category season after season. And while the bags, as usual, were phenomenal, it’s these net flats with tie details we’re placing out bets on. Remember the chokehold Alaïa’s fishnet flats had on the fashion crowd? These have the same potential. Come warm weather, we’re going to see these on city streets, on seaside holidays, and everywhere else.

Valentino flower mules

The perfect summer day shoe, courtesy of Alessandro Michele. These mule sandals in unexpected colours, with delicate flowers perched on barely-there straps, are just the sort of shoes we’d want to wear to every summer wedding, garden party, and dinner. Our favourite combination was this turquoise heel with a lime-green flower and contrasting red insole. Also on the runway were satin mules—some topped with fluffy pom-poms—that would be fabulous for brides looking for something a little less traditional.

Hermès Le Petit sac

Not every bag needs to come decked with a dozen charms or an oversized logo to make a statement. Sometimes, simple is best. First introduced for autumn/winter 2025, the slim shoulder bag featuring the maison’s signature H-shaped D-rings returned this season in a gorgeous reddish-brown hue. It can fit a phone, lipstick, and your cards.

Louis Vuitton’s 9-to-5 bag

For every ridiculous novelty bag on our wishlist, there needs to be one that can actually hold all our belongings. This sensible, generously proportioned Louis Vuitton flap bag is an everyday accessory that earns its keep. The ideal companion for people with places to be and things to do, it’s polished enough for when you have a day full of meetings and cool enough for after-work drinks. Who said practicality couldn’t be chic?
