Christmas week is here and along with dreaming about plum cake and all the Christmas gifts I’m hoping to receive from The Nod’s gift guide, I’m also thinking of ways to add a cosy, winter touch to my distinctly hot-weather wardrobe here in Mumbai. One answer came in the form of the stretchy headband, the accessory of choice for chic celebrities from Bella Hadid to Tamannaah Bhatia and Sydney Sweeney (who wore hers on the red carpet). It’s a great way to conceal unwashed hair while adding a touch of retro, Brigitte Bardot-esque glamour. This version of the headband is different from the stiff, school-girl style that was popular a while ago. It has a more wintery, sporty aesthetic, like you’ve just hopped off the ski slopes or returned from a day at the padel court rather than looking like you’ve been to church. It partially covers the ears, which is great in slightly chilly weather, and hides flyaways for a sleek, put-together look. The options in my cart right now are this set of two from H&M, fitness brand Kica’s version, or this multipack so I have one in every colour. Maybe it will inspire me to hit the gym too? That’s a problem for 2026.
