Our reality today is stranger than fiction. Every new day brings a harsher reminder of a truth we have always known. In moments like these, even fiction starts to feel close to reality. Uncomfortably, but it does. Probably thatâs what makes The Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which dropped yesterday, hit differently. It straight up opens with a disasterâa devastating multiversal incursion. Think Earth-616âs Avengers, the Fantastic Fourâs retro-futuristic world, and Foxâs X-Men all colliding on the same battlefield against Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr) a, God-like antagonist. Itâs probably the biggest crossover since Endgame and the fans are going to lap it up come December.
Beyond the spectacle, the trailerâs final moments resonate the most today and urge us to hold on to the words of Thor: âEverything they sacrifice will be for nothing if we donât stand together.â The line that follows carries even greater weight: âWe are going to need a miracle.â
To hope and miracles!
