Gauri Khan’s new Experience Centre feels like a plush Delhi home

No signs, no crowds, no boring displays. Just appointment-only access to a lush home filled with custom furniture, iconic art, and the designer’s signature touch

Gauri Khan Design Experience Centre in Delhi

It’s not a store. It’s not a showroom. It’s an experience. With the launch of Gauri Khan Designs’ all-new Delhi Experience Centre, interior designer Gauri Khan invites you into what feels like a peek inside her design-filled daydream, full of sculptural furniture, quiet luxury, and zero retail chaos. “Every detail has been curated to make people feel at home,” says Khan when we meet. “To show them how luxury can be warm, personal, yet deeply individual.”

In many ways, this is a homecoming. Khan, a Delhi girl at heart, returns to her roots with a space that blends her signature aesthetic with the quiet elegance of the capital. Tucked into the leafy bylanes of Delhi, the space doesn’t look like a flashy design destination from the outside. There are no big signs, no heavy branding that screams “celebrity designer here!” From the street, it feels like a regular upscale Delhi home—serene, green, and totally discreet. That’s exactly the point. Khan wants you to walk in and feel like you’ve entered someone’s private, well-styled world.

The Delhi Experience Centre isn’t your regular walk-in store. It is open by appointment only, which means you get the space and the attention all to yourself. You’re not just browsing, you’re exploring. Every corner is styled like a real home, with thoughtful design cues that feel personal and lived in. You’re greeted by a Greco-Roman head at the entrance, which then leads to a sleek metal-and-concrete console inside: “It blends form and function in a way that feels effortless,” says Khan, “which is exactly the kind of design language I love.” Nearby, design books are casually strewn around, like she just stepped away mid-brainstorm. And you don’t see an MF Husain on the wall—you walk right past it. The mirrors, textures, and lighting make everything feel layered and inviting. There’s even a cosy corner lit by the ReadMe lamp by Borgo delle Tovaglie, casting a soft, sculptural glow that’s more warm hug than showroom spotlight.

Unlike her more traditional display-style Mumbai store, the Delhi space is all about immersion. There’s a full-blown lifestyle zone set up like actual rooms, so you’re not just looking at a sofa, you’re picturing movie nights on it. Or imagining that statement armchair next to your window at home. It’s less showroom, more soft launch of your dream apartment. Plus, everything here is fully customisable—from fabrics and finishes to silhouettes and sizes. Want your sofa in that exact shade of Pantone’s 2025 shade, Mocha Mousse? Done. There’s even a range of art and artefacts on offer, starting at ₹20,000 and going up to a lakh, so you can take home a little piece of the aesthetic—no matter your budget.

Ask Khan what the most underrated aspect of interior design is and she’s quick to say: “Lighting.” Clearly, that’s something the Delhi Experience Centre gets just right. “Lighting is transformative yet often overlooked. The right light—whether sculptural, ambient or natural—can completely shift the energy of a space.” At the centre, there is the warm glow of statement lamps as well as the flood of natural light pouring in through skylights, which makes the entire space feel open, inviting, and thoughtfully lit. As you walk up to the second floor, the sunshine only intensifies, bathing everything in a soft, golden wash.

Art also plays a big role in bringing the space to life, and thanks to a collaboration with Nature Morte, one of India’s top contemporary art galleries, you can get started on your collection right here. “Delhi has a taste for grandeur, but it’s also deeply rooted in culture and emotion,” explains Khan. “This space captures both—it’s elevated but personal, artistic yet practical.” The result feels like a beautifully lived-in home that also doubles as a walk-through gallery. And no, Khan isn’t following trends here. Her philosophy is all about timeless design. This isn’t just about interiors. It’s about stepping into a design story—yours, hers, and somewhere in between.
