The Golden Globe 2026 nominations are out, and they tick everything that we watched and enjoyed this year. While Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another leads with nine nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, nipping at its heels are family drama Sentimental Value and horror musical Sinners. (I’m rooting for PTA.)

Television honours cover everything from The White Lotus and Adolescence to Abbott Elementary, The Pitt, and Only Murders in the Building to the recent Vince Gilligan-directed utopia-as-dystopia drama Pluribus.

This is also the time we’re screenshotting every culture publication’s ā€˜Best___ of 2025’ picks, finding enough films, books, podcasts, video games, and music albums with which to fill the time that we don’t have. What made your year?

Somewhere in all this, a show based on a smutty novel revolving around two ice hockey rivals has got the whole world swooning/panting, while the secretary of state of a nation has launched a battle against…Calibri and its ā€œinformalā€ tyranny.
