Bvlgari gives us a new sneaky watch moment

The Italian maison’s Polychroma collection hides time behind fun, maximalist design

Bvlgari watches have always straddled the line between timekeeping and treasure. This year, the Italian maison leaned all the way into extravagance at the 2025 Polychroma presentation, which took place earlier this week at the Grand Hotel Timeo in the sun-drenched clifftop town of Taormina, Italy. The event marked the unveiling of Bvlgari’s most extensive high-jewellery collection to date, featuring over 60 millionaire products—pieces that sell for over a million Euros. Among the standouts were the colossal Magnus Emerald necklace, which Priyanka Chopra Jonas wore to the Met Gala, and the Celestial Mosaic necklace, which houses the fourth-largest spinel in the world.

But the one piece that stole our attention? The Gioco di Forme e Colori secret watch—a technical and aesthetic knockout, designed for those who appreciate drama. It captures the brand’s flair for colour-blocking and its signature Art Deco influences.

But what makes the piece such a mood? For starters, it’s modular, with a large detachable brooch that conceals the dial—a two-in-one delight, if we may. Secondly, at the heart of the brooch is a 12.34-carat tanzanite surrounded by gold rays—a reference to the Roman sun—and punctuated with gemstones like emeralds, sapphires, rubies, and garnets. Third, the square dial that’s set with pavé diamonds and fitted with sword-shaped azure hands. And finally, the bracelet made from white or rose gold, highly architectural and layered, almost like a gemstone mosaic that’s encrusted with brilliant-cut diamonds.

While the numbers (and carats) speak for themselves, Bvlgari still knows how to keep things interesting, on time and high on drip.
