All three beauty heavyweights teased a similar innovation simultaneously—an eye-patch dispenser that serves a fresh slice of goodness for your under-eyes every time you twist it—each under the presumption that it was unique to their respective brand. The internet had a field day with this messy overlap and thus began ‘Eye-patch Gate’.
As if that weren’t enough, it then came to light that a South Korean brand called Wonder Bath had actually debuted this innovation all the way back in July. The Slice Serum came in three formulations—Vitamin C, PDRN, and peptides—depending on your concern. Double gag.
The brands’ social media teams have since been working overtime, leaning into the drama and spinning it into self-deprecating memes. Huda Kattan also weighed in, suggesting that they had all been crossed over by the same manufacturer: “Formulas are different, but we were lied to on the exclusivity with the packaging supplier. Pretty crazy.”
