The new It-bag has a familiar face

In honour of 130 years of the Monogram, Louis Vuitton gives its most iconic motif a pastel makeover

Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandoulière

Before it became fashion’s most recognisable pattern, the Louis Vuitton Monogram began as an ode from a son to his father. Originally created in 1886 and registered in 1897 by Georges Vuitton (the only son of house founder Monsieur Louis Vuitton), the pattern—inspired by Neo-Gothic flourishes and Japonisme—immortalised the founder’s initials within a constellation of flowers and would go on to become a symbol of modern luxury. To mark 130 years of that legacy, the House’s Monogram Origine collection revisits its earliest travel roots, reimagining the iconic motif in soft, vintage pastels inspired by archival client registers.

Our favourite from the collection is the Speedy Bandoulière 20. It may be a mini, but it punches well above its weight: roomy enough to hold all your essentials (keys, wallet, lip balm, the works) yet charming enough to spark conversation. Crafted in a newly developed coated canvas in Vert Asnière—a pastel, spring-ready green that feels like a breath of fresh air on a heritage classic—it’s finished with a leather trim, gold-toned padlock, and a clever nametag that doubles as a card holder. It also comes hot-stamped with Louis Vuitton’s own handwritten signature from an 1867 trunk patent (yes, really). A detachable strap ensures the bag can be worn multiple ways, making it the perfect arm candy for your spring uniform.
