After reviving their early-aughts icons—the Monogram Multicolore, Superflat Panda, Cherry Blossom, and those very kawaii cherries—for a three-part re-edition drop earlier this year, Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami are now pushing their collaboration into surrealist territory. The newly unveiled Artycapucines VII collection might just be the most joyful thing Louis Vuitton has ever made. For the 2025 edition of the maison’s annual artist collaboration, the Japanese artist reimagines the classic Capucines bag with all the hallmarks of his hyper-saturated world: rainbow flowers, pandas, dragons, and mushrooms—sometimes all at once. The pieces push the boundaries of what a handbag can be: there’s a mink-furred East-West Capucine masquerading as a Rainbow Flower, a porcelain-like leather piece printed with his largest known artwork, ‘Dragon in Clouds Indigo Blue’, and even a strass-studded panda clutch. The Capubloom, a spherical clutch inspired by his Flower Matango sculpture, doubles as a gallery piece. And if you prefer your surrealism practical, there’s a tentacled Capucines Mini and another with 100 vibrant mushroom characters—because why not?

Using tech that didn’t exist when Murakami first partnered with Vuitton in 2003, the maison 3D-prints, laser-etches, and fur-trims its way through the artist’s wildest motifs. “Louis Vuitton deconstructed my work and wove it into every part of the bag. I was continually impressed by their creativity and how they reinterpreted my artistic context,” says Murakami. “Fashion has become more artistic, and art, in turn, must assert even deeper meaning to keep up,” he reflects, stating fashion and art are locked in “a creative chase”. Dramaturgies of Space marks Latitude 28’s next chapter

At Latitude 28’s brand-new gallery space in Delhi’s Defence Colony, the walls don’t just hold art, they also come alive with it. Step in and you’ll see Monali Meher’s haunting photographs, where red threads seem to breathe and bind like living memories. Nearby, Salik Ansari’s ‘Appetizer’ turns a simple laddu into a witty take on desire and control, while Juhikadevi Bhanjdeo’s shimmering indigo textiles ripple like stories stitched from memory, each fold holding fragments of identity and emotion. Dramaturgies of Space, curated by Satyajit Dave, brings together seven artists—Riyas Komu, Monali Meher, Salik Ansari, Sudipta Das, Chandan Bez Baruah, Firi Rahman and Juhikadevi Bhanjdeo—who transform the gallery into something alive. It’s a vibrant, engaging debut that sets the tone for an exciting new chapter at Latitude 28. —Sheya Kurian
