From a cookbook by food whiz Samin Nosrat to celebrity memoirs by Charlie Sheen and Kamala Harris, here are the non-fiction titles we’re adding to cart

New books in September 2025

A month that began with an Indian memoir making all the headlines seems to have set the tone for the season. This month, a lot of famous people are writing their tell-alls. There’s one by former US vice-president Kamala Harris, who recounts her 107 days of campaigning for the presidency in 2024. Another by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley on leaving America’s most beloved rock’n’roll star. And there’s Charlie Sheen coming clean, not just on TV (aka Charlie Sheen) but also with a tome called The Book of Sheen.

‘Does This Make Me Funny?’ by Zosia Mamet

Published by Viking

Zosia Mamet aka Shoshanna from Lena Dunham’s TV show Girls pens a series of essays that give readers a front-row seat to the not-so-funny side of show business, told in her wry voice: think anorexia and anxiety with a side of dark humour. The essays cover her early days growing up in literary and dramatic circles (she’s the daughter of actor Lindsay Crouse and is a self-proclaimed “nepito” baby), every young girl’s typical experiences of love and lust, and her journey to fame. This one includes cameos by Axl Rose and Martha Stewart and run-ins with her idol David Sedaris, where Mamet got so overwhelmed that she hid in the bathroom and melted into a “glitter puddle”. Released on September 9

‘107 days’ by Kamala Harris

Published by Simon & Schuster

“Your Secret Service code name is Pioneer.
You are the first woman in history to be elected vice president of the United States.
On July 21, 2024, your running mate, Joe Biden, announces that he will not be seeking reelection.
The presidential election will occur on November 5, 2024.
You have 107 days.”

Nothing could describe the premise of this book better than the blurb written by Harris herself. Reminiscent of an episode of 24, this book drops a ton of truth bombs, including Harris’s hesitation over advising her then 81-year-old boss, Biden, to not run for president. Releases September 23

‘The Book of Sheen’ by Charlie Sheen

Published by Gallery Books

The blurb of this book begins with an ominous “Charlie Sheen should not be alive to write this book”. This memoir, then, is his journey from addiction to sobriety, the squiggly graph of fame, and his childhood as the son of Martin Sheen. It may read like a fictional story on life and times in Hollywood (it is that bizarre) but it’s not. For those who prefer TV to a book, aka Charlie Sheen, a candid two-part documentary about the actor’s life, is now out on Netflix. Released September 9
