Still from 'Drop'

With Independence Day landing on a Friday this year, we have been handed the holy grail of calendar blessings: a guilt-free, government-approved long weekend. While half the city is busy booking beach stays and mountain escapes, some of us are locking down our living rooms for some serious binge time.

And the watchlist is looking good: Drop, where a dreamy date night turns into an AirDrop-fuelled nightmare; Butterfly, a high-stakes spy thriller that is also a messy family reunion; and Andhera, a supernatural whodunnit set in Mumbai’s shadows. Three days, endless snacks, and just enough drama to keep your phone on silent.

‘Drop’ on Prime Video

What starts as an ordinary dinner date quickly veers into Black Mirror territory when a young woman’s phone starts pinging with creepy, anonymous AirDrop messages. At first it’s unsettling, then sinister, and before she can say “Airplane Mode”, she’s caught in a spiral of blackmail, violence, and a fight for survival. This tech-thriller stars Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar, with an ensemble that keeps you guessing who’s friend, foe, or both.

‘Butterfly’ on Prime Video

David Jung (Daniel Dae Kim) is a retired US intelligence officer enjoying a quiet life in South Korea—until his past literally comes knocking with a knife. The intruder? Rebecca, the young assassin sent to kill him, who also happens to be the daughter he thought was gone forever. As bullets fly and emotions crack open, the two are forced into an uneasy alliance that blends family drama with espionage mayhem. Also starring Piper Perabo and South Korean heavyweights Kim Tae-hee and Park Hae-soo, it’s as much about mending hearts as dodging headshots.

‘Limitless: Live Better Now’ on JioHotstar

Most of us try “living better” by adding chia seeds to our breakfast. Chris Hemsworth, apparently, prefers scaling a frozen 600-foot wall in the Swiss Alps, training with South Korea’s Special Forces, and hopping on stage with Ed Sheeran to play the drums. This series takes the Thor actor through extreme challenges designed to explore the science of longevity. Equal parts adrenaline rush, wellness quest, and Hemsworth charisma overload.

But to get it, she has to face down shady deals, her own past mistakes, and the city’s unforgiving underbelly. A gripping mix of survival story and moral reckoning, it’s a reminder that the path to redemption is rarely lit.

‘Court Kacheri’ on SonyLIV

Living up to family expectations is tough, but when your father is a celebrated lawyer, the pressure only doubles. For Param Mathur, that means being pushed into a legal world he never truly chose.
