If you’ve been doomscrolling through the same old content and need something to snap you out of your streaming stupor, this weekend’s lineup is here to shake things up spectacularly. Covering Wednesday Addams juggling family drama and supernatural conspiracies, best friends whose codependent bond cracks under wedding planning chaos, and a disposable crew member facing off against his own clone, this week serves identity crises, family feuds, and friendships pushed to breaking point.

01

‘Wednesday’ season 2 on Netflix

Wednesday Addams is back and moodier than ever! Season two sees her return to Nevermore Academy, where a new semester is the backdrop to a creepy new mystery: a murder of crows hell-bent on murder. As her psychic powers grow darker, family drama intensifies with little bro Pugsley enrolling and Morticia and Gomez hanging around more often. Expect chaos, cameos (hi, Lady Gaga!), and new faces like principal Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi) and music teacher Isadora Capri (Billie Piper) with some Tim Burton-style charisma (he has directed four out of eight episodes) once again. The gothic madness continues and, yes, it’s still delightfully deadpan.

02

‘Platonic’ season 2 on Apple TV+

Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne return as Will and Sylvia, whose codependent friendship hits breaking point when Sylvia is recruited to plan Will’s wedding. Career changes, strained relationships, and wedding chaos force both to confront personal baggage their bond can no longer mask. With new cast additions Aidy Bryant and Milo Manheim, Platonic returns with sharp, squirmy comedy that hits too close to home. Watch it for a friendship comedy that’s equal parts heartwarming and discomfiting.

‘Mickey 17’ on JioHotstar

Imagine Groundhog Day meets Blade Runner but with the existential dread cranked to eleven. Parasite’s Bong Joon Ho directs Robert Pattinson, who is Mickey Barnes, a “disposable” crew member who keeps dying and getting resurrected on a frozen hellscape until a glitch creates two versions of him. As Mickey 17 and Mickey 18 navigate their shared identity crisis while uncovering a sinister cloning conspiracy, Pattinson delivers a haunting dual performance that questions the very nature of what makes us human.
