We’ve had no shortage of blockbuster energy at the theatres recently. Whether it’s the swoon-worthy cast and broke-boy propaganda of The Materialists or the high-octane drama of F1: The Movie, big releases have been the talk of the town and our social media feeds. With Jurassic World: Rebirth roaring into theatres this weekend, you’d be forgiven for needing a breather or at least thinking twice before splurging on that XL popcorn.

Sometimes, the best plan is no plan. Just you, your couch, and a good binge. Whether you’re in the mood for Idris Elba and John Cena’s chaotic diplomacy in Heads of State, the surreal fantasy of The Sandman season two, or even a tender road trip across rural India in Kaalidhar Laapata, this week’s streaming slate has plenty to offer.

01

‘Heads of State’ on Prime Video

What happens when two world leaders who can’t stop fighting on Twitter are forced to work together? Idris Elba plays the British Prime Minister and John Cena plays the US President in this wild buddy comedy. When a powerful enemy targets them, they’re forced to go on the run, joined by MI6 agent Noel, played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas. (Many are calling her performance the highlight of the film.) Directed by Ilya Naishuller, it’s a fast-paced, globe-trotting adventure that shows even the messiest political rivalry can turn into an unlikely friendship.

As her team struggles with exile, betrayal, and long-buried grudges, a new threat emerges: Discord, the deadly first immortal, whose revenge mission turns into a brutal showdown. With globe-trotting action and even higher emotional stakes, the team’s survival depends on confronting the secrets of their origins.

‘Tour de France: Unchained’ season 3 on Netflix

Cycling’s grandest stage prepares for its final act—a dramatic farewell to a storied legacy. Netflix’s third and final season takes viewers behind the scenes of the 2024 Tour de France, where Tadej Pogačar's dominant victory became the dramatic centrepiece of a race that redefined modern cycling. If you love shows like Drive to Survive, this one’s for you: camera crews follow seven teams from the inside, showing the pressure, tactics, and heartbreak behind the scenes. It also breaks down the complex world of pro cycling in a way that’s easy to follow, making it a great entry point for new fans.
