Himani Shah’s night routine has a seven-day schedule

The content creator and former VJ is in bed by 9, armed with linen sheets, herbal tea, and a rotation of actives that would make a dermatologist weep with joy

Content creator and influencer Himani shah shares her wind down and skincare routine with The Nod

She used to model, VJ, and look perfect doing it. Now Himani Shah creates content that is, by her own admission, a mess, and happily so. Her page is her personal diary, cycling between lifestyle, beauty, fashion, and the occasional bit of chaos just to keep people on their toes. She has two kids, a husband, a couple of dogs who sleep in the bed, and a skincare shelf that runs on a weekly timetable more disciplined than most corporate calendars. When the kids are back from school at 5 pm, and the shoot is wrapped and the events (which do have a habit of happening at all hours) are done, she retreats into the coldest room she can manage, cracks open a book, and calls it a night. Here’s what that actually looks like:

Your evenings sound like they could go either way—calm or chaotic. How do you manage the wind-down?

I try to finish shooting and all my meetings before the kids get back from school. But in my line of work, events happen at all hours, so sometimes I’m rushing out post-dinner. When I do get to wind down, it’s a hard wind-down. I like my room freezing, almost like hibernation—no jokes. I blast the ACs in all seasons, wear the shortest shorts and a slinky tank to sleep, and use a cover that’s basically just a sheet. And I’m in bed by 9-ish, and asleep by 10:30 or 11 at the latest.

Let’s get into the skincare. Because from what we can tell, your PM routine is practically a colour-coded weekly programme.

It really is split across the week. Three days are retinol days, two days are AHA/BHA toner-pad days, and two days are what I call extreme hydration. Monday is Farmacy 1% retinol, topped with the Shiseido Ultimate Power Infusing Serum to seal everything in, and then the Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream. Tuesday is the Pore Zero Peeled Egg toner pad and the Sulwhasoo Balancing Emulsion sealed with the Augustinus Bader Rich Cream. Wednesday is the Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Capsule Cream with the Foreo face massager. Thursday is retinol again—same as Monday—but I swap the Shiseido for the Lancôme Génifique Ultime and use the Sulwhasoo Ginseng Cream instead. Friday mirrors Tuesday. Saturday is the d’Alba First Spray Serum followed by either the Augustinus Bader or the Medicube, depending on what I’m feeling—and always the Foreo. Sunday is the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist followed by retinol and sealed with the Sulwhasoo cream.

And during the day?

Very, very basic. The Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist or the d’Alba spray serum and a solid SPF 50 because it is so hot. I’m currently using the Beauty of Joseon Sun Cream.

Hair routine before bed?

I get my hair blow-dried three times a week, so on those days I always try to add a little argan oil to my ends before I sleep—just to give my hair a bit of TLC.

Any supplements or sleep aids in the mix?

I stack all my supplements in the morning—I take a tonne of them. Nights are usually just some herbal tea. I’m currently at an age where I take progesterone for 14 days of the month, and those are my absolute favourite nights. Lights out by 9:30—nothing else needed. I’m out fast.

Anything non-negotiable about the sleep setup?

Linen. I cannot sleep unless I’m on linen sheets and pillowcases. Not silk, not cotton—ever. It has to be linen.

Comfort food that signals the day is done?

Nothing makes my heart as happy as regular dal, rice, and vegetables with a side salad. I love my Indian food. It’s always lighter than anything else.

Last thing before lights out?

I have to read at least two pages before I sleep—even if the husband is watching TV, I can read alongside. And the very last thing is saying goodnight to my husband and the dogs, who sleep with us.

One thing people might not know about you from your page?

I used to be a model and a VJ back in the day, then took a solid break from everything to get married and have kids. I started content creation about six years ago just to have a little fun—and I’m still having fun with it. My page used to be very polished, very fashion and beauty and perfect. But I’m messy, and now it’s truly who I am.
