Mahjong is still having a moment. Scroll through social media, and you’ll see game nights and tournaments popping up everywhere and a new gameplay variation to discover every week. So, when we heard that Louis Vuitton’s Vanity Mahjong was finally making its way here, it felt well-timed.

The mahjong set, an objet d’art, has arrived in India as part of Louis Vuitton’s Les Extraordinaires showcase in Hyderabad. At first glance, it looks like a classic mini LV trunk covered in the maison’s instantly recognisable Monogram canvas with gold-tone brass fasteners. Open it up, though, and it reveals six compartments outfitted in a luxurious pine-green lining and cowhide trims, housing a full set of 144 tiles (along with five spare tiles), four wooden rulers and dice, and a four-petal flower-shaped wind indicator. The tiles are made of corian and American walnut and hand-painted with suits and honours inspired by Louis Vuitton’s signature floral motifs.

This is not LV’s first brush with the Chinese game. The maison had created a more travel-friendly version back in the 1950s, complete with red satin-lined compartments to store tiles. The Vanity Mahjong, however, is its more elaborate descendant—less “pack it for a holiday”, more “build the holiday around it”.

Picture this vanity set sitting pretty in your drawing room—it’s equal parts dinner party ice-breaker and chic interior decor. Priced at an eye-watering ₹59,50,000, you may not want to break it out for your weekly session, but it makes for a major flex for when you have guests you want to impress.

Available for purchase at Louis Vuitton’s Les Extraordinaires exhibit at Taj Krishna, Hyderabad, till June 25, 2026, or on special order
